Krystal Hubbard’s hair loss is hereditary, inherited from her mother and grandmother, who both have thin hair on the sides and front hairline. Krystal’s hair loss started early and became more noticeable around age 10, when she started wearing a relaxer. As she became aware of how thin her hair was, she began to wear braids and extensions to “hide” how thin it was.

“Because I wasn’t knowledgeable about hair loss, I didn’t realize that the weight and tightness of the braids and improper installation of my extensions was accelerating the loss. When I came to work at HRI, I was completely in awe that there were options available to people like me with hair loss, and I wanted to give it a try,” she said.

Krystal began HRI of DFW’s in-clinic, FDA-approved laser hair therapy in April of 2013. When she first started the laser treatments, she decided to cut off her damaged hair, stop using relaxer and start over fresh. She wore a wig at first because she was not comfortable with how she looked with no hair.

“In July, I decided that my hair was at a length I would be comfortable wearing without a wig. This has been the best hair decision I have ever made! Now, just 6 months later, I am thrilled with my hair. This is the first time in 19 years I have been confident enough to wear my OWN hair for this length of time. I am happy to be able to share my journey and really be able to relate to our clients.”
